Yes, that's our goal.  Imagine your database has been prepared for Model A and you want to use it for Model B.  Model B is like Model A but it possesses extra parameters and functions to represent desalination plants.  Open Model A, 'Save As' Model B, then go to the Object Type Editor window and define a new object type, e.g. called DesalNode.  Now the network you prepared for Model A is ready to become a network for Model B, you can enter information on desalination plant locations and parameters.
